What to do in the summer months (December, January, February)

Direct from the farmer to you: summer tips and tricks for your growing success.

  • Finish planting summer crop and sow succession crop seed for quick turnover things like Basil, leafy greens etc    
  • Mulch all gardens to reduce surface evaporation    
  • Consider setting up shading for exposed areas of the garden    
  • Fertilise and tree citrus trees for deficiencies    
  • Seasol spray young seedlings to give them the best start    
  • Covering brassicas from cabbage moth    
  • Copper spray all stone fruit trees for leaf curl    
  • Fertilise fruit trees.    
  • Monitor for signs of aphids on young shoots and spray with eco oil if necessary.    
  • If very warm begin applying mulch (only late in season)    
  • Test irrigation system and set and test timer system    
  • If necessary, spray for cabbage moth with eco oil and neem
